Halal Compatibility
ROLL Packaging declares its products as Halal-compatible. The manufacturing process and the raw materials used to produce ROLL products do not contain animal-derived substances nor alcohol, making the products suitable for use in supply chains that handle Halal goods.
Halal in the context of industrial packaging
The term Halal denotes what is permissible under Islamic dietary and lifestyle requirements. For packaging materials used in the supply chain of Halal goods, the principle is that the packaging shall not contain or be contaminated by substances classified as Haram (non-permissible), including substances derived from prohibited animals, animal-derived substances of unverified origin, or alcohol used as a functional component.
The Halal status of a finished product placed on the market is typically certified by a recognised Halal certifying body, in accordance with the requirements adopted in the relevant jurisdiction or by the buyer.
ROLL Packaging declaration of compatibility
ROLL declares that all products in the ROLL portfolio are Halal-compatible, on the following basis:
- No animal-derived substances. The raw materials used by ROLL — polymers (HDPE, PP, LDPE), cardboard, steel, and the additives, processing aids and auxiliary materials employed in production — do not contain animal-derived substances.
- No alcohol. Alcohol (ethanol) is not used as a functional component, solvent, cleaning agent or processing aid in the ROLL manufacturing process.
- Cross-contamination control. The ROLL production sites do not handle animal-derived materials nor alcohol-based agents, eliminating the risk of cross-contamination of ROLL products with Haram substances.
This declaration applies across the full ROLL portfolio, including plastic roll cradle pallets, pallet transformers, wedges, end plates and flanges, cardboard cradles, metal rack stillages and their accessories.
Compatibility, not certification
This declaration confirms that ROLL products are compatible with the requirements applied in Halal supply chains. It is not a Halal certification, which requires a formal audit and the issuance of a certificate by a recognised Halal certifying body. Where a Halal-certified packaging is specifically required by a customer or by the regulation of the destination market, the customer is invited to contact ROLL to evaluate the technical and certification options on a case-by-case basis.

Reference framework
This declaration is issued with reference to the general principles applied in Halal supply chains for industrial packaging, including the absence of animal-derived substances and alcohol in the materials in contact with or in proximity to Halal goods.
Halal requirements are not harmonised by a single international regulation. Specific Halal standards are adopted by recognised national and international certifying bodies (such as JAKIM Malaysia, MUI Indonesia, GIMDES Turkey, Halal Italia, and others). Where formal Halal certification of the packaging is required, ROLL invites the customer to specify the certifying body and the applicable standard, in order to evaluate the technical and certification path together.
