Every roll-converting plant accumulates end-of-reel waste. Cardboard or plastic cores wrapped with residual material that cannot be unwound, cannot be reused as-is, cannot easily be recycled because the core contaminates the material and the material contaminates the core.
Most plants still handle this manually — operators with utility knives, slow guillotines, makeshift unwinders. Result: safety risks, low recovery rates, contaminated waste streams that recycling centres reject. The core, a re-buyable asset, gets destroyed in the process. The residual material, potentially valuable as single-stream recyclate, ends up in mixed-waste containers.
ROLL's RECYCLO core stripper machine solves this. A 7-inch HMI guides the operator through a 3-step cycle. Loading: up to 600 mm diameter, 1500 mm length, 150 kg per roll. Set-up: enter core wall thickness and cut depth. Unload: the cut material falls onto a removable carriage as a clean recyclable fraction; the core releases intact, ready for reuse. 2,500 kg/h on soft plastics. 1,300 kg/h on aluminium. CE-compliant. Q: Which materials can RECYCLO process?
A: Plastic films (PETE, HDPE, PVC, LDPE, PP, PS), paper-based laminates (PAP, C/PAP, C/LDPE), aluminium foil. Mixed laminates are accepted when the dominant layer is in the supported list. Send us your material spec for case-by-case confirmation.
Q: What core diameters does it handle?
A: From 76 mm (3") to 304 mm (12") with the standard bar. A 50 mm version is available on request with a special bar.
Q: What's the actual hourly throughput?
A: 2,500 kg/h on soft materials (LDPE, PP, PS at 5 mm pass depth). 1,300 kg/h on aluminium. Throughput depends on material type and wound quantity per reel.
Q: How safe is the operator?
A: RECYCLO is fully enclosed (structure and blade) and CE-compliant. The blade is never accessible during operation. The operator interacts only with the HMI and the loading clamp — no direct handling of cutting surfaces.
Q: What's the footprint of the machine?
A: 2,644 mm × 824 mm × 1,552 mm. Less than a third of the footprint of a typical guillotine station with safety perimeter.
