Plastic roll wedges and chocks: replace nailed wooden wedges

A plastic roll wedge, also called a roll chock, sits on the pallet deck on each side of the roll and stops it from rolling, without nails or tools. ROLL wedges come in two families: the patented KU10 in recycled PP for shipping, and the KU04 in recycled HDPE with rubber pads for daily warehouse use. Being plastic, they are not subject to the ISPM 15 treatment that applies to wooden packaging.

Why do nailed wooden wedges cause problems?

A roll on a flat pallet is a cylinder on a plane. One forklift knock or one hard braking, and it rolls. The traditional fix is a wooden wedge and nails. It works, but nails injure operators, damage forklift tyres on the floor and leave holes that weaken the pallet over time. Wooden wedges absorb humidity and split. For export, wooden packaging needs ISPM 15 phytosanitary treatment.

What is a plastic roll wedge?

A moulded plastic chock placed against the roll. The standard configuration is two wedges per roll, one on each side. The KU10 has friction teeth on the underside that grip soft surfaces under load. The KU04 has rubber pads and a geometry that increases stability as the roll weight increases. No tools, no fasteners, no hammering.

How do you choose a roll chock?

  • The wedges travel to the customer and do not come back? KU10: an economy wedge designed for one-way shipments.
  • Smooth plastic pallet? Take a version with rubber pads: KU10-2S or KU04.
  • Daily moves inside the plant? KU04: reusable and multi-cycle.
  • Different roll diameters on the same pallets? SB01 or SB02: the wedges are repositioned on the rubber mat without rebuilding the setup.

Frequently asked questions

Do plastic roll wedges work on wooden pallets?

Yes. The KU10 wedge is not nailed: friction teeth on the underside grip soft surfaces under load. On smooth plastic decks choose a version with rubber pads, KU10-2S or KU04.

Do plastic wedges need ISPM 15 treatment for export?

No. ISPM 15 phytosanitary rules apply to wooden packaging materials. Plastic wedges are not subject to them.

How many wedges are needed per roll?

The standard configuration is two wedges per roll, one on each side. For heavier or larger-diameter rolls, ask ROLL for a configuration.

Which wedges are reusable?

The KU04 wedges and the SB01 and SB02 kits are made for multi-cycle use inside the plant. The KU10 is an economy wedge designed for one-way shipments where the wedges stay with the customer.

What is the minimum order?

Minimum quantities are shown on each product page. A trial supply can be discussed.
