Every roll-converting plant ends up with the same waste at the end of a reel's life: film, paper, foil or laminate still wound around the core. Most plants remove it by hand with a knife, or push the whole reel through a guillotine. Both methods throw away two things at once — the core you could re-buy, and a clean material stream you could recycle.
RECYCLO was built to stop that double loss. It is a core stripper machine, co-developed by ROLL and GAVO Meccanica — a worldwide leader in core-cutting technology — and is International Patent Pending. It separates the leftover material from the core in a single guided cycle.
Why the old methods waste money
There were three ways to deal with end-of-reel material, and each one has a flaw a production manager already knows:
- The manual cutter. A blade in the operator's hand. Slow, and a safety risk on every reel.
- The guillotine. It cuts the material and the core together, so the core comes out broken and cannot be reused.
- The unwinder. It runs the full length of the reel with no separation logic. Very slow.
The result is the same everywhere: end-of-reel handling becomes a slow, unsafe job that destroys the core and contaminates the material, so it can't enter a clean recycling stream.
How RECYCLO works — three steps

1. Load. The operator places one or more reels on the electric clamp — up to 600 mm outer diameter, 1,500 mm long, 150 kg. The clamp couples to cores from 76 mm to 304 mm.

2. Set up. On the 7-inch touch screen the operator enters two numbers: core wall thickness, and how deep to cut. Reel length and diameter are read automatically by a sensor on the blade.

3. Unload. RECYCLO cuts lengthwise through the leftover material and stops at the set depth. The material falls onto a removable carriage as a clean, recyclable fraction. The core comes out intact, ready to use again.
What you get back
- 2,500 kg/h on soft plastics like LDPE; 1,300 kg/h on aluminium.
- 100% of cores in range recovered intact and reusable.
- Residual material clean and single-stream recyclable, by resin family.
- Fully guarded and CE-compliant — the operator never handles a loose blade.
- Footprint of 2,644 × 824 mm — less than a third of a guillotine station with its safety perimeter.
Who it's for
Flexible packaging and film converters, paper and tissue producers, aluminium foil converters, textile roll converters, and any plant that needs to separate composite roll waste before it goes to recycling.
One supplier for the whole life of a reel
RECYCLO closes a loop ROLL already covers from the other end. ROLL pallets and storage solutions protect a reel during its working life; RECYCLO recovers the core and the material at the end of it. For the full picture of the end-of-reel problem, read our guide: End-of-reel recovery explained.
