Roll cradles, also called roll saddles, are cardboard supports used to stack rolls in layers on a pallet: each roll sits in its own seat, one roll per seat, so the rolls do not touch each other during storage and shipping. This collection includes base cradles and interlayer cradles for 2 to 6 rolls per layer, plus a universal adjustable cardboard stacker.
Because every roll has its own seat, the outer surface of one roll is not pressed against the next one, and the pallet keeps a regular, compact shape that is easier to strap and handle.
How to choose
Choose by two values: how many rolls you want per layer and the outer diameter of your rolls. Each size comes as a pair, a base model (B) and an interlayer model (I), with the same diameter range.
For mixed or changing diameters, the PCU-80 universal cardboard roll stacker is adjustable for roll diameters from Ø 150 to 350 mm.
How it works
- Place the base cradles on the pallet and lay the first layer of rolls in the seats.
- Place the interlayer cradles between one layer and the next, so the upper layer of rolls also sits in separate seats.
- Repeat for the following layers, then strap the unit to the pallet and check its stability before moving the load.
Frequently asked questions
How many layers can I stack?
It depends on roll weight, roll diameter, the pallet and how the unit is strapped and transported. Send us your roll data and we will suggest a configuration; we recommend a trial on your own rolls before regular use.
Base or interlayer cradle: what is the difference?
The base cradle goes on the pallet, under the first layer of rolls. The interlayer cradle goes between two layers, so each layer has its own seats. For a pallet with several layers you normally need both, in the same size.
My roll diameter is between two sizes. Which model should I choose?
Each model is designed for the diameter range shown in its name. If your diameter falls between two ranges or close to a limit, send us the exact diameter and roll weight before ordering: we will check which model fits, or whether the adjustable PCU-80 stacker is a better option.
Are cardboard cradles recyclable?
They are made of cardboard, so after use they can be recycled where paper and cardboard recycling is available, following local rules.
Do I need wedges as well?
Cradles and wedges solve different set-ups. In a cradle each roll sits in its own seat; wedges are typically used to block rolls lying on a flat surface. If you are unsure which suits your load, read our comparison guide or ask us.
